Principal Engineer & Founder
Braden’s passion for a smarter, more reliable energy grid drives Coastal Grid. With over 20 years of hands-on expertise in utility engineering, he’s a recognized leader in substation protection and automation—specializing in digital technologies like IEC 61850.
Before launching Coastal Grid, Braden built his experience at two major utilities. At Southern California Edison (SCE), he was responsible for leading the development and standardization of SCE’s next generation substation automation and protection system based around IEC 61850. At Salt River Project (SRP), he played key leadership roles in protection and control, including designing and commissioning one of the largest RAS systems in the Western United States.
Now, Braden brings that same innovation and problem-solving drive to every Coastal Grid project—delivering cutting-edge solutions for clients across North America.
