Who we are
Coastal Grid, Inc. is an engineering consulting firm in San Luis Obispo, California, and the operator of coastalgrid.com. You can reach us at contact@coastalgrid.com or (805) 242-6458.
What we collect
What you send us. When you submit our contact form we receive the fields you filled in: your name, your company, your email address, and your message. If you email or call instead, we receive whatever you choose to include.
Standard server logs. Our host records an IP address, browser user agent, page requested, and timestamp for every request. These exist for security and reliability and are not used to build profiles.
That is the entire list. This site sets no cookies of its own, and we run no analytics package, advertising pixel, or session recorder. The site is served over HTTPS.
How we use it, and who else sees it
We use what you send us to respond to your inquiry and to provide the engineering services or software support you asked for. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell, rent, or trade it.
A small number of outside service providers make the site work: a web host, a service that delivers contact form submissions to our email, and providers of embedded fonts and map content. When their content loads in your browser, those providers may receive your IP address and browser information, and the embedded map may set its own cookies. Each handles that data under its own privacy policy. Beyond that we share nothing, and we have no advertising or data brokerage relationships with anyone.
StationBolt software
StationBolt, our IEC 61850 substation configuration software, handles sensitive engineering data, so it is worth stating plainly:
- StationBolt does not contact any Coastal Grid server. No telemetry, no usage reporting, no crash reporting, no automatic update check.
- License keys are validated locally. Activation needs no internet connection and sends us nothing.
- Your project files, SCL files, and station data stay on your machine and your network. We never receive them. If you send us a file when asking for support, we use it only to answer your question and delete it when the matter is closed.
Reviewing or deleting what we hold
Write to contact@coastalgrid.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. No account and no special form required, at no charge. Depending on where you live, California or other law may give you formal versions of these rights. We extend them to anyone who asks.
Do Not Track
Because this site does not track visitors across websites or over time, a browser Do Not Track signal has nothing to switch off, and we honor it by default. We do not permit third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your activity across different websites through this site.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the effective date above and post the revised version here, which is always the authoritative version. Material changes will be described in plain language rather than buried.
